The role of the sub-thalamic nucleus in the preparation of volitional movement termination in Parkinson's disease

► The inhibitory role of sub-thalamic nucleus (STN) was studied in PD. ► α, low-β and high-β ERD appearing synchronously 1 s before movement termination. ► High-β ERD appears first followed by low-β ERD prior to movement ignition. ► The strategies of STN are different between movement ignition and termination. ► STN participates in volitional movement termination in PD.
