Unmasking adenosine 2A receptors (A2ARs) in monkey basal ganglia output neurons using cholera toxin subunit B (CTB)

► We examine the existence of adenosine 2A receptors in the primate basal ganglia. ► In situ hybridization detects A2AR mRNA in neurons of basal ganglia output nuclei. ► CTB tracing reveals expression of the receptor in these neurons. ► We report the presence of A2A receptors in basal ganglia output nuclei.
