Colorful brains: 14Â years of display practice in functional neuroimaging

► We evaluated 9179 functional images with respect to the display practice used. ► We identified five main display styles with respect to color use. ► We identified a trend of standardization towards the heated body scale. ► 38.2% of the images displaying activations using color scales didn't explicate them. ► We provide suggestions to improve the display practice in neuroimaging.
