Cardiovascular fitness modulates brain activation associated with spatial learning

► Six months physical exercise training combined with six sessions of spatial learning. ► fMRI data at baseline and after the training showed activity in a spatial network. ► Brain activations in this network correlated with cardiovascular fitness (VO2peak). ► Increase in VO2peak modulated activity in the medial frontal gyrus and cuneus.
