Molecular detection of the blood meal source of sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae) in a transmission area of American cutaneous leishmaniasis, Paraná State, Brazil

- The blood meal sources of sand flies in Paraná State were identified trough prepronociceptin (PNOC) gene.
- The sand flies fed on Equus caballus, Sus scrofa and Canis lupus familiaris.
- The identification of the blood meal sources of the sand flies was directly linked to the level of digestion of the blood.
