SLC11A1 polymorphisms and susceptibility to visceral leishmaniasis in Moroccan patients

- 106 visceral leishmaniasis patients, 97 asymptomatic and 42 healthy subjects.
- Four SLC11A1 polymorphisms were studied by PCR-RFLP and PCR-sequencing.
- Susceptibility to VL is associated to 823C/T and D543N polymorphisms of SLC11A1 gene.
- Haplotypes 286GTG and 288GCAseem to be associated with resistance to the disease.
