Evaluation of naturally occurring curcuminoids and related compounds against mosquito larvae

► The commercial turmeric extract curcuminoids were isolated in high purity. ► Di-O-demethylcurcumin, di-O-methylcurcumin and the di-O-acetyl curcumin were synthesized. ► Curcumin showed LC50 value of 19.07 mg L−1 against Culex pipiens larvae ► Di-O-demethylcurcumin showed LC50 value of 12.42 mg L−1 against C. pipiens larvae. ► Aromatic substitution pattern plays significant role in larvicidal efficacy.
