Correlation between populations of Rhodnius and presence of palm trees as risk factors for the emergence of Chagas disease in Amazon region, Brazil

► Rhodnius robustus and Rhodnius pictipes were captured in different species of palm trees. ► R. robustus was more associated with Attalea marita. ► R. pictipes was more eclectic in relation to species of palm. ► Triatominae infected by Trypanosoma cruzi were caught near the county seat. ► Entomological and epidemiological surveillance in the region should be done.
