Detection of Chikungunya virus in Aedes aegypti during 2011 outbreak in Al Hodayda, Yemen

► We detected Chikungunya virus in collected mosquitoes for the first time in Yemen. ► Aedes aegypti was abundant in the inspected areas in Al Hodayda Governorate. ► Container index and larval population density were high in CHIKV positive areas. ► Positive females were collected from Al Khokha-Eritrean refugee camp. ► Uncovered water containers inside human residence allow vector to spread disease.
