Reproductive success in Anopheles arabiensis and the M and S molecular forms of Anopheles gambiae: Do natural sporozoite infection and body size matter?

► We collected wild females Anopheles gambiae in an African malaria endemic village. ► Naturally infected females with Plasmodium falciparum sporozoites were separated from the uninfected ones. ► The reproductive output of anopheles was compared among species based on the infection status. ► Natural sporozoite infection is not reducing eggs production of An. gambiae. ► There is a positive correlation between infected females body size and their egg production.
