Importance of worldwide asymptomatic carriers of Leishmania infantum (L. chagasi) in human

Human clinical cases of visceral leishmaniasis represent only the tip of the iceberg, most infections lead to an asymptomatic form. Consequences of the presence of asymptomatic carriers of Leishmania infantum were reviewed.
