The efficacy of simulated solar disinfection (SODIS) against Ascaris, Giardia, Acanthamoeba, Naegleria, Entamoeba and Cryptosporidium

► The exposure of protozoan cysts to SODIS for 6 h resulted in significant inactivation. ► The addition of riboflavin significantly enhanced the inactivation of Acanthamoeba. ► Ascaris larvae continue to develop inside the ova after exposure to SODIS. ► Cryptosporidium remain impermeable to PI indicating they may still be infectious.
