Influence of the quality and quantity of blood ingested on reproductive parameters and life-span in Triatoma infestans (Klug)

► Relation between reproductive efficiency and food resource in Triatoma infestans. ► We examined if females fed on birds or mammals show different reproductive parameters. ► The number of matings and fecundity increased with the quantity of blood ingested. ► Females fed on mammal showed an increase in reproductive success. ► This study confirm the efficiency and vectorial capacity of this species.
