Single genome amplification of proviral HIV-1 DNA from dried blood spot specimens collected during early infant screening programs in Lusaka, Zambia

- Developed an in-house assay for amplifying HIV-1 DNA from dried blood spot cards.
- Performed bulk amplification of the 5′ half, 3′ half, pol, and env HIV-1 DNA.
- Performed single genome amplification on pol and env HIV-1 DNA.
- Specimens were collected and analyzed in a field laboratory setting in Zambia.
