Evaluation of the Determine™ fourth generation HIV rapid assay

► The Determine™ Combo assay was evaluated in a South African setting. ► The antibody and antigen components of the assay were evaluated individually. ► Thirteen of the 16 seroconversion specimens belonged to HIV-1 subtype C. ► The Determine™ Combo assay detected HIV antibodies with a sensitivity of 90.7%. ► The Determine™ Combo assay detected p24 antigen with sensitivity of 10%.
