Application of the pseudo-plaque assay for detection and titration of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus

► PPA was developed for the first time for detection and titration of CCHFV. ► The PPA does not require the development of CPE in the infected cell monolayer. ► The PPA accuracy was confirmed by comparing the PPA titers with FIFA and FFA. ► Results by the PPA were obtained 24 h after cell infection. ► The method could also be used for the detection of other viruses.
