Characterization of a novel monoclonal antibody reactive against the N-terminal region of Enterovirus 71 VP1 capsid protein

► Generated and fully characterized a monoclonal antibody (mAb4) against Enterovirus 71 (EV71). ► Linear epitope of mAb 4 targets the N-terminal region of VP1 capsid protein of EV71. ► mAb 4 can cross-react with all eleven representative strains of EV71 but not CA16. ► Potential application for identification of EV71 infection.
