An optimized method for elution of enteroviral RNA from a cellulose-based substrate

► A method for enteroviral RNA elution from FTA elute cards was optimized. ► A proper buffer increased yields of enteroviral RNA. ► The buffer pH affected the yields of enteroviral RNA elution with higher yields in alkaline conditions. ► Because of the low recovery rate, detection should be combined with very sensitive methods. ► The method is applicable to enteroviruses and other RNA viruses.
