Deletion and overexpression studies on DacB2, a putative low molecular mass penicillin binding protein from Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv

► Overexpression and deletion studies were performed for DacB2. ► Overexpression of Mycobacterium tuberculosis DacB2 in Mycobacterium smegmatis affects its physiology. ► Mutant has reduced growth in Sauton's medium under acidic and low oxygen availability. ► DacB2 deletion mutant showed increased intracellular survival in THP cells.
