Seeding experiments demonstrate poor performance of the hatching test for detecting small numbers of Schistosoma mansoni eggs in feces

Hatching is critically hindered by loss in transparence of fecal suspensions when higher than 0.5 g of feces is dissolved in 500 mL of water.
