Detection of members of the Tombusviridae in the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA

► A panicovirus, a tombusvirus, an unclassifiable tombusvirid and 2 carmoviruses were found. ► The complete genome of TGP carmovirus 1 was obtained from Lespedeza procumbens. ► Both carmoviruses have coding characteristics similar to proposed “pelarspoviruses”. ► TGP carmovirus 1 was also present in the fern Pellaea atropurpurea.
