Effect of lubricant selection on EHL performance of involute spur gears

► Effect of lubricant rheology on EHL characteristics of spur gears is investigated. ► Two lubricants viz. PDMS and PAO are considered. ► Results reveal 74% thinner EHL films and 86% lower traction coefficient for PDMS. ► Lower value of thermal reduction factor is observed for PAO.
