Application of a methodology to assess the performance of a full-scale diesel oxidation catalyst during cold and hot start NEDC drive cycles

► The spatial variation of wall temperatures in an exhaust catalyst has been measured. ► Putting this temperature data beside exhaust gas emission data gives new insights. ► The position of the most active areas of the catalyst are seen to change with time. ► This information will be most useful to test the validity of mathematical models.
