Treatment of chlorophenols in water matrix by UV/ferri-oxalate system: Part II. Degradation mechanisms and ecological parameters evaluation

► We study the treatment of p-chlorophenol by UV/ferrioxalate process (UV/Fe(OX)). ► We investigate degradation mechanisms involved regarding the type of UV irradiation. ► Synergy of direct photolysis and radical mechanism degraded p-CP using UV-C/Fe(OX). ► p-CP was dominantly degraded by radical species applying UV-A/Fe(OX). ► Presence of oxalates significantly improved the biodegradability of model wastewater.
