Surface tension and toxicity changes during biodegradation of carbazole by newly isolated methylotrophic strain Methylobacterium sp. GPE1

► We isolate methylotrophic bacterium able to biodegrade carbazole. ► Isolated strain produce surface active agents to utilize carbazole. ► Biodegradation of carbazole leads to increase of toxicity measured by Microtox assay.
