Perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids with up to 22 carbon atoms in snow and soil samples from a ski area

► PFCAs with up to 22 carbon atoms are present in snow and soil from a ski area. ► We observe a significant contamination of a remote environment with PFCAs. ► Ski waxes are the main source of contamination with PFCAs. ► PFCAs accumulate in surface soil over several years.
