Liposome and protein-water partitioning of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs)

► Partition coefficients of PBDEs to liposome and bovine serum albumin were measured. ► The measured values are among the highest reported for these materials. ► No hydrophobicity cutoff for liposome membrane up to log Kow of 8.3. ► BDE 183 binding affinity to albumin is as much as Ka = 6.0 × 108 M−1.
