► MCPA and mecoprop-p adsorption in a Haplic Cambisol was generally linear. ► Mecoprop-p adsorption had less extent that MCPA adsorption.► Adsorption process could not be fully reversed. ► Simultaneous presence of both herbicide showed competition for available soil sorption sites.
