Toxicity of mixtures of perfluorooctane sulphonic acid with chlorinated chemicals and lipid regulators

► Combined toxicity of PFOS, triclosan and pharmaceuticals. ► Most binary mixtures exhibited antagonistic or very antagonistic behaviour. ► Ternary mixtures were less antagonistic or synergistic. ► Triclosan, 2,4,6-trichlorophenol and PFOS showed a very strong synergism. ► The risk may be underestimated by additive approaches.
