Retention time profiling of all 136 tetra- through octa- chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans on a variety of Si-Arylene gas chromatographic stationary phases

► In this study we evaluated the applicability of variety of GC columns for the separation of 136 PCDD/PCDF. ► Their relative performance data were compared to the “conventional” GC column and to each other. ► These data suggested that the development of a single GC column for the separation of all 2378-substituted isomers is feasible. ► Therefore such a column could be used as a standard tool for PCDD/PCDF methods globally. ► Having one specific column for PCDD/PCDF analysis will improve data quality, comparability, and lead to a cost efficient operation.
