In vitro tests to assess toxic effects of airborne PM10 samples. Correlation with metals and chlorinated dioxins and furans

► Different In vitro tests were applied to evaluate the toxic effects of airborne PM10. ► Microtox® with Vibrio fischeri is a good first screening test to assess air quality. ► PM10-sorbed PCDD/Fs and metals were not associated with genotoxicity. ► Traffic and environmental temperature play a key role in ecotoxicity values.
