Fertilizer induced nitrous oxide emissions from Vertisols and Alfisols during sweet sorghum cultivation in the Indian semi-arid tropics

► First report on N2O emissions from agriculture soils in the Indian semi-arid region. ► Applied N lost as N2O from Alfisols and Vertisols was 0.90 and 0.32% respectively. ► N2O emissions are dependent on the soil properties.
