Temporal trends of Hg in Arctic biota, an update

► We analyzed 83 time-series of mercury in Arctic biota. ► No generally consistent trend was evident across tissues and species. ► We found a clear west-to-east gradient in the occurrence of increasing mercury trends. ► Only 10% of the mercury Hg time-series were deemed statistical powerful. ► We recommend continuing monitoring of mercury by extension of existing time-series.
