Calibrating LAWR weather radar using laser disdrometers

► A transformation methodology is proposed for LAWR DRO - dBZ conversion. ► dBZ observations from ground based disdrometeres are applied. ► The transformation makes LAWR data comparable with traditional weather radar data. ► The method enables the application of the Marshall-Palmer Z-R relation for LAWR QPE. ► Evaluation of the LAWR attenuation correction is facilitated by the methodology.
