Urban growth of the Washington, D.C.-Baltimore, MD metropolitan region from 1984 to 2010 by annual, Landsat-based estimates of impervious cover

► Long-term, continuous fields of impervious cover at 30-m, annual resolution. ► Empirical method based on data from Landsat-5 and local governments. ► Average error of ± 6% impervious cover over three years of test data. ► From 8.81 × 102 km2 of impervious surfaces in 1984 to 1.176 × 103 km2 in 2010 (+ 11.35 km2/year).
