Metal foam heat exchangers for heat transfer augmentation from a tube bank

► The performance of metal foam-wrapped tube bundle is numerically studied. ► Hydro-dynamics parameters and foam characteristics are systemically changed. ► Metal foam heat exchanger performance is better than that of the conventional design. ► A thin metal foam layer significantly improves the heat exchanger performance. ► The effect of porosity and permeability on the performance is investigated.
