Ultrafast proton transfer in the green fluorescent protein: Analysing the instantaneous emission at product state wavelengths

► Ultrafast fluorescence of the green fluorescent protein is measured and analysed. ► The instantaneous fluorescence component appearing in the anionic state is assigned to the underlying neutral contribution. ► The data can be analysed in terms of these two (A* and I*) emission contributions.
