Photoinduced electron-transfer in supramolecular complex of zinc porphyrin with poly(amido amine) dendrimer donor

► We investigate photoinduced electron-transfer between zinc porphyrin and PAMAM dendrimers. ► Primary photochemical step occurs via the porphyrin singlet-state. ► Under deaerated conditions PET triggers a sequence of photoreduction reactions of porphyrin. ► Addition of methyl viologen inhibits photoreduction with accumulation of its radical ion. ► Dendrimer serves as sacrificial donor and nano-confined environment promoting PET.
