Influence of Ir content on the activity of Pt-Ir/C catalysts for hydrogen iodide decomposition in iodine-sulfur cycle

- A series of Pt-Ir/C, Pt/C and Ir/C catalysts were prepared.
- Their differences in structure, and morphology were investigated.
- Their catalytic activities were compared for HI decomposition.
- The bimetallic Pt-Ir/C catalysts are more active than Pt/C or Ir/C catalyst.
- The 2.5%Pt-2.5%Ir/C was very stable and active at 500 °C in HI decomposition.
