- H2 evolution by dye-sensitized TiO2 nanoparticles was examined under visible light.
- H2 evolution was significantly influenced by surrounding electron donor solutions.
- Photochemical and electrochemical analyses revealed the electron transfer processes.
- The co-existing species affect the electron injection and recombination processes.
- TiO2 onset potential depends on the combination of dyes and co-existing species.
