Supported Au catalysts for low-temperature abatement of propene and toluene, as model VOCs: Support effect

▶ Au/CeO2 is the best performing catalyst in the full oxidation of propene and toluene. ▶ Stable propene conversion was registered in a long-run over Au/CeO2 at 135 ̊C for 50 h. ▶ The activity of Au/Al2O3 was highly improved by doping with CeO2 (7.5 wt%). ▶ The oxygen vacancies present in the (7.5 wt%) CeO2/Al2O3 stabilize gold nanoparticles. ▶ The interaction of gold nanoparticles with the support enhances the activity.
