Whole-tree harvesting and site productivity: Twenty-nine northern hardwood sites in central New Hampshire and western Maine

► We compared regeneration following whole-tree and conventional harvesting. ► Measurements of tree DBH and height along with calculated biomass were used to assess productivity. ► Productivity showed no significant difference between harvest treatments. ► Residue removal has no observed effect on productivity 10-14 years following harvest.
