Efficiency of biological control of Gonipterusplatensis (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) by Anaphes nitens (Hymenoptera: Mymaridae) in cold areas of the Iberian Peninsula: Implications for defoliation and wood production in Eucalyptus globulus

► The efficacy of the parasitoid Anaphes nitens of Gonipterus platensis was assessed. ► Wood loss was estimated by comparing inventory data. ► A. nitens was inefficient at maximum winter temperatures below 10 °C. ► In areas with colder winters defoliation ranged from 74% up to 100%. ► Wood volume decreased in average to 51% in the affected areas.
