Commercial antioxidants and thermal stability evaluations

► Some antioxidants decompose or volatilize below 110 °C. ► Rancimat method is used to determine oxidation stability a 110 °C for long periods. ► TBHQ, BHA, BHT, gallic acid and EDTA showed thermal decomposition lower than 110 °C. ► We suggest modifying the standard method or choosing the P-DSC and petroOxy methods. ► Natural antioxidants have strong heat resistance: α-tocopherol > caffeic > ferulic (acid).
