A comparative study of heat transfer characteristics of turbulent offset jet and wall jet flows has been carried out using two different low-Reynolds number k-ε models, standard k-ε model and shear stress transport (SST) model. The heat transfer study has been carried out for wall-bounded jets in a quiescent medium and also in the presence of an external moving stream. The computational results obtained from different turbulence models have been compared with the experimental results available in the literature to judge the suitability of these models. The capability of low-Reynolds number k-ε models and SST model to resolve the entire boundary layer have enabled to capture the temperature profile in the thermal sublayer. The linear law T+ = Prây+ has been observed up to y+ â 4.0 in the thermal sublayer for the wall jet flow. The variation of temperature profile in the thermal boundary layer, decay of the maximum streamwise temperature and streamwise variation of the local heat transfer coefficient have been computed for all models considered and compared with the experimental results.
