Entropy production and field synergy principle in turbulent vortical flows

► Influence of flow structure on heat transfer was investigated. ► Vorticity was produced by vortex generators in a static mixer. ► Global heat transfer is correlated with circulation of the streamwise vortices. ► In field synergy analysis, θ alone is not sufficient for heat transfer analysis. ► Entropy production number is appropriate for classification of heat exchangers.
