علیرغم شواهد تجربی تأثیر انتظارات والدین بر موفقیت پذیرش، مطالعات اندکی بر این موضوع متمرکز شده است. این مطالعه با هدف بررسی تأثیر ارزشیابی والدین از انتظارات بر مشکلات رفتاری کودکان، با بررسی تأثیر میانجیگری متوالی از استرس والدین و رضایت والدین انجام شده است. نمونه شامل 116 والد مؤنث (31-60 ساله) از کودکان (6 تا 12 سالهای آکادمیک) که حداقل دو سال در این خانواده بودند. نسخه های پرتغالی فرم کوتاه کوتاه والدین و شاخص های شدت و دشواری پرسشنامه والدین به ترتیب برای اندازه گیری میزان استرس والدین و مشکلات رفتاری کودکان مورد استفاده قرار گرفت. علاوه بر این، شاخص های خاصی برای ارزیابی والدین از انتظارات و رضایتمندی استفاده شد. نتایج به دست آمده از مدل میانجی پیوسته پیشنهاد شده، برجسته نمودن اهمیت تقویت توسعه انتظارات دقیق است.

Despite empirical evidence of the impact of parents' expectations on the success of adoption, few studies have specifically focused on this subject. This study aimed to test the impact of parents' evaluation of expectations on their child's behavioral problem by investigating a sequential mediation effect of parenting stress and parental satisfaction. The sample included 116 adoptive parents (31-60â¯years) of children (6-12â¯years) who had been part of the family for, at least, two years. The Portuguese versions of the Parenting Stress Index-Short Form and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire-Parents version were used to measure the level of parenting stress and the children's behavioral difficulties, respectively. Moreover, specific indexes of parents' evaluation of expectations and satisfaction were used. The results supported the sequential mediation model proposed, highlighting the importance of fostering the development of accurate expectations.
