Convenient and facile cross-Aldol condensation catalyzed by molecular iodine: An efficient synthesis of α,α′-bis(substituted-benzylidene) cycloalkanones

Cross-Aldol condensation of aromatic aldehydes with cyclic ketones in the presence of catalytic amount of iodine at room temperature afforded α,α′-bis(substituted-benzylidene) cycloalkanones in high yields.
