► Ascorbyl palmitate-polyethyleneglycol400 (PEG 400)-water phase diagrams were made. ► Increasing PEG 400 concentration reduces gel-mesophase transition temperature. ► Up to three lamellar and one cubic mesophases may be present. ► Some systems may be used for pharmaceutical skin preparations.
