Biosynthesis of 3-hydroxypropionic acid from glycerol in recombinant Escherichia coli expressing Lactobacillus brevis dhaB and dhaR gene clusters and E. coli K-12 aldH

► Two Lactobacillus brevis dhaB and dhaR gene clusters of were cloned. ► In vitro/in vivo assays confirmed that DhaR is a DhaB reactivation factor. ► Recombinant E. coli expressing dhaB, dhaR and aldH produced 14.3 g/L 3-HP from glycerol in the two-step fed-batch fermentation.
